On June 17, 2010 the West Haven Police Department was presented with a
2010 COMMON/IBM Innovation Award in the small and midsized category.
This award was given for the WHPD's innovative approach in the ability to
receive booking information which includes photos and other important
details, to the patrol cars within seconds.
In the 50 year history of the IBM COMMON expo, this was the first time a
police department has received an award let alone an agency other than a
"business" being awarded such an honor.
Chief John Karajanis accepted the award from Mary Rooney-Lucas, president
of DCS Inc., at a press conference held at the police station on Thursday.
