Here at the West Haven Animal Shelter, we have 5 Animal Control Officers that are strategically scheduled to ensure there is an Officer on call every day of the week available for calls from 8am until 4pm. One officer is always available after hours for emergency purposes.
Have you ever arrived to the Shelter and the door is locked?
The animal shelter may appear closed during normal working hours because Animal Control Officers are frequently out in the field responding to calls and handling animal related situations in the community. This can include picking up strays, tending to injured animals, investigating complaints, or assisting residents with urgent concerns. When Animal Control Officers are out on calls, there may not be anyone available to keep the shelter open to the public at that moment. Feel Free to call the Shelter and leave a voice message where Animal Control Officer will respond to you in a timely manner.
